How a claim works with us

  1. 01

    Report the claim

Call your insurer (or the other driver's) and get a claim number. Tell them your car is going to Top Tier.

  2. 02

    Free estimate

We inspect the car, photograph the damage and write a detailed estimate.

  3. 03

    Adjuster review

We send our estimate and photos to your adjuster and work through any differences directly.

  4. 04

    Teardown & supplements

Hidden damage found during teardown is documented and approved before we continue.

  5. 05

    Repair

Structure, body and paint — done to the repair plan both sides agreed on.

  6. 06

    Pickup

You pay your deductible if one applies, and drive away. We explain everything on the final invoice.

Whose insurance pays?

The other driver was at fault

You can file a third-party claim with the at-fault driver's insurer. If they accept liability, repairs are typically paid with no deductible. If liability is disputed or slow, you can use your own collision coverage instead and let your insurer pursue the other company.

You were at fault, or it's unclear

Your own collision coverage pays for your repair, minus your deductible. Hit-and-run or an uninsured driver? Uninsured motorist property damage coverage may apply.

Ins. Code § 758.5You choose the repair shop — your insurer can't require one.

Bus. & Prof. Code § 9884.9Written estimate and your consent before work, or before going over it.

Bus. & Prof. Code § 9884.8Invoice identifies OEM vs. aftermarket crash parts, and new, used or rebuilt parts.

Insurance FAQ

Still unsure? Call (626) 646-7117 with your claim number and we'll tell you exactly where things stand.

Do you work with my insurance company?

Yes. We work with all insurance companies, including State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, Farmers, Mercury, USAA, Liberty Mutual, Nationwide, Wawanesa. Carrier names are listed for reference; working with an insurer doesn't mean we're part of its direct repair program.

Can my insurer make me take my car somewhere else?

No. California Insurance Code section 758.5 prohibits insurers from requiring you to use a particular repair shop. They may recommend one, but the choice is yours.

What is a supplement?

When teardown reveals damage that wasn't visible during the first estimate, the shop documents it and sends a supplement to the insurer for approval before continuing. It's normal on collision repairs, and it's how hidden damage gets paid for.

Who pays my deductible?

If you claim through your own collision coverage, you pay your deductible to the shop. If another driver was at fault and their insurer accepts liability, there's typically no deductible on that claim — and if you used your own coverage first, your insurer may try to recover your deductible from theirs.

Will insurance pay for a rental car?

If your policy includes rental reimbursement, or the at-fault driver's insurer accepts liability, a rental is often covered while your car is being repaired. Limits vary, so confirm the daily amount and number of days with your adjuster.

What if the other driver has no insurance?

Uninsured motorist property damage coverage or your own collision coverage may pay for the repair. Check your policy and report the claim to your insurer promptly.

Can I skip insurance and pay for the repair myself?

Yes. Some drivers pay out of pocket for smaller repairs to avoid a claim. We write the same free estimate either way, so you can compare it with your deductible before deciding.
